Steps to avoid any possible discrimination during selection interview

Following are the steps to avoid any possible discrimination while selection interview:

1. Arriving late:

Job candidates sometimes also have several interviews and appointments regarding their job needs with different managers and organizations scheduled back to back. The most common thing we have to face is might be possible some of our candidates cut short because of late arrival. And our impression on other candidates would not be reliable. So we should avoid late arrival and should be on time.

2. Appearing rumpled

It is very important to not appear rumpled or stained in front of candidates. Our appearance should be presentable.

3. Explanations of job requirement:

You should not avoid to describe clear picture of Job requirement. If we don’t follow clear target, chances are we miss it. We should also provide complete details of the job to the candidate before extending to the other hiring process we should clear the candidate what we are searching for.

4. Preparation for scorecard:

Before taking first interview we should create a scoreboard for ourselves which describes complete picture of what we actually want to see in the candidate. We might set some levels on the scoreboard which we want to see in them i.e. skills, education, background and so on), this will help us to grade every candidate accordingly.

5. Listen to candidate:

We should not fail to listen to the candidate. We know the time we are taking to ask questions and getting replies. We should give them time so they can also tell us about themselves.
